Whitney Houston 1963-2012... We will always love you!!!!
Image by his grace Whitney Houston, the multimillion-selling singer who emerged in the 1980s as one of her generationâs greatest R & B voices, only to deteriorate through years of cocaine use and an abusive marriage, died on Saturday in Los Angeles. Her death was confirmed by her publicist, Kristen Foster. She was 48, and had been in Los Angeles on Saturday to sing for the annual pre-Grammy party held at the Beverly Hilton hotel by Clive Davis, the founder of Arista Records, who had been her pop mentor. Ms. Houston was declared dead in her room at the hotel about 4 p.m. after paramedics from the Beverly Hills Fire Department spent close to 30 minutes trying to revive her, the authorities said. There was no immediate word on the cause of her death. The streets in front of the Beverly Hilton, already crowded because of the Grammy Awards party taking place there, were swarmed with reporters and fans, drawn by the news of this latest high-profile pop star dying in Los Angeles. Partygoers and celebrities continued to arrive for Mr. Davisâs party while fans stood behind a rope trying to take pictures. Dressed in evening gowns and tuxedos, people stepped out of limousines at the curbside and streamed into the party. From the first, Ms. Houston had the talent, looks and pedigree of a pop superstar. She was the daughter of Cissy Houston, a gospel and pop singer who had backed up Aretha Franklin, and the cousin of Dionne Warwick. (Ms. Franklin is Ms. Houstonâs godmother.) Ms. Houstonâs range spanned five octaves, and her voice was plush, vibrant and often spectacular. She could pour on the exuberant flourishes of gospel or peal a simple pop chorus; she could sing sweetly or unleash a sultry rasp. Dressed in everything from formal gowns to T-shirts, she cultivated the image of a fun-loving but ardent good girl, the voice behind songs as perky as âI Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)â and as torchy as what became her signature song, a version of Dolly Partonâs âI Will Always Love You.â But by the mid-1990s, even as she was moving into acting with films like âThe Bodyguardâ and âThe Preacherâs Wife,â she became what she described, in a 2009 interview with Oprah Winfrey, as a âheavyâ user of marijuana and cocaine. By the 2000s she was struggling; her voice grew smaller, scratchier and less secure, and her performances grew erratic. All of Ms. Houstonâs studio albums were million-sellers, and two have sold more than 10 million copies in the United States alone: Her 1985 debut album and the 1992 soundtrack to âThe Bodyguard,â which contains âI Will Always Love You.â But her marriage to the singer Bobby Brown â" which was, at one point, documented in a Bravo reality television series, âBeing Bobby Brownâ â" grew miserable, and in the 2000s, her singles slipped from the top 10. Ms. Houston became a tabloid subject; the National Enquirer ran a photo of her bathroom showing drug paraphernalia. And each new album â" âJust Whitneyâ in 2002 and âI Look to Youâ in 2009 â" became a comeback. At Central Park in 2009, singing for âGood Morning America,â her voice was frayed, and on the world tour that followed the release of the album âI Look to You,â she was often shaky. Whitney Houston was born on Aug. 9, 1963, in Newark. She sang in church, and as a teenager in the 1970s and early 1980s, she worked as a backup studio singer and featured vocalist with acts including Chaka Khan, the Neville Brothers and Bill Laswellâs Material. Mr. Davis signed her after hearing her perform in a New York City nightclub, and spent two years supervising production of the album âWhitney Houston,â which was released in 1985. It placed her remarkable voice in polished, catchy songs that straddled pop and R & B, and it included three No. 1 singles: âSaving All My Love for You,â âHow Will I Knowâ and âThe Greatest Love of All.â Because Ms. Houston had been credited on previous recordings, including a 1984 duet with Teddy Pendergrass, she was ruled ineligible for the best new artist category of the Grammy Awards; the eligibility criteria have since been changed. But âSaving All My Love for Youâ won her first Grammy award, for best female pop vocal performance, an award she would win twice more. Her popularity soared for the next decade. Her second album, âWhitney,â in 1987, became the first album by a woman to enter the Billboard charts at No. 1, and it included four No. 1 singles. She shifted her pop slightly toward R & B on her third album, âIâll Be Your Baby Tonight,â in 1990, which had three more No. 1 singles. For much of the 1990s, she turned to acting, bolstered by her music. She played a pop diva in âThe Bodyguard,â and its soundtrack album â" including the hits âI Will Always Love You,â âIâm Every Woman,â âI Have Nothingâ and âRun To Youâ â" went on to sell 17 million copies in the United States. It won the Grammy for album of the year, and âI Will Always Love Youâ won record of the year (for a single). After making the films âWaiting To Exhaleâ in 1995 and âThe Preacherâs Wifeâ in 1996 â" which gave her the occasion to make a gospel album â" Ms. Houston resumed her pop career with âMy Love Is Your Loveâ in 1998. Ms. Houston married Mr. Brown in 1992, and in 1993 they had a daughter, Bobbi Kristina, who survives her. Ms. Houstonâs 2009 interview with Ms. Winfrey portrayed it as a passionate and then turbulent marriage, marred by drug use and by his professional jealousy, psychological abuse and physical confrontations. They divorced in 2007. Her albums in the 2000s advanced a new persona for Ms. Houston. âJust Whitney,â in 2002, was defensive and scrappy, lashing out at the media and insisting on her loyalty to her man.. Her most recent studio album, âI Look to You,â appeared in 2009, and it, too, reached No. 1. The album included a hard-headed breakup song, âSalute,â and a hymnlike anthem, âI Didnât Know My Own Strength.â Ms. Houston sang, âI crashed down and I tumbled, but I did not crumble/I got through all the pain,â in a voice that showed scars. In Los Angeles on Saturday night, a number of other people were drawn to the hotel where Ms. Houston died to mourn. âI want to show support because she inspired a lot of people, and nobodyâs perfect,â said Lavetris Singleton. âBut if weâre not out here then sheâll be forgotten. We are her legacy. âI was in utter, total disbelief,â she said. âWho was not a fan of Whitney Houston at some point? The song that always sticks in my mind was âGreatest Love of All.â I remember singing that as a child, and all her hits, and then following her, even with her rise and fall with Bobby Brown and watching her reality show.â Besides her daughter, now 18, Ms. Houston is survived by her mother. A woman who answered the telephone at the Edgewater, N.J., home of Ms. Houstonâs mother on Saturday night said she would not speak to reporters.

Renae Ayris - Miss Universe Sydney Australia
Image by Eva Rinaldi Celebrity and Live Music Photographer The Star Casino hosts Renae Ayris - Miss Universe Sydney, Australia Echo Entertainment is apparently more about entertainment than gambling these days, casino tie in or not, and tonight its party time at The Star. This is most assuredly worth taking a gamble on. There's a strong chance that by the time you stop parting you would have had an absolute blast. They have hosted countless international acts and acted as home to the Hollywood and Las Vegas stars where they come down under to Sin City Sydney. Seems a nature that the new Miss Universe Australia, Renae Ayris, and friends should be in the celebrity mix to show their faces on a Friday night at The Star. They continue to push the celebrity card, and then there's the nightclubs, bars, slots, games and The Darling - the 5 star hotel. It's all there for the taking. Work hard and play and party harder. Promo... News on Miss Universe Australia... Danver and photography lover from Perth has been crowned Miss Universe Australia. Renae Ayris has been voted the nation's most beautiful woman and presented with a ,000 Temelli Jewellery crown at a black tie event in Melbourne (9th June 2012). She narrowly edged out Melbourne woman Mary Vitinaros, who was named runner-up. The night saw some of Australia's most beautiful women take to the stage in swimwear and evening gowns before judges declared a winner. Melbourne's hopes of a local winner were buoyed when two of the final five included Melbourne woman Mary Vitinaros and Victorian Julia Perrott-Clarke. Ms Perrott-Clarke won the crowd over after facing a controversial question from former news presenter Naomi Robson about her views on gay marriage. "I believe that everyone should have equal rights whether it be marriage or any other factor," she responded. "Everyone has their own opinion and if it doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights then I think it's a great thing." Shouting her final reply she ended by saying. "If they are in love, then they should celebrate that love and if that means marriage, then they should get married because it's amazing." The response saw her named 4th runner-up. Strutting their stuff in evening gowns in front of a crowd in the hundreds in the Melbourne Sofitel's Grand Ballroom the finalists wowed the room. The panel responsible for naming the winner included actress and model Annalise Braakensiek, actor Vince Collosimo and fashion designer Wayne Cooper. The West Australian girl will now represent Australia at the international Miss Universe competition. Thirty-three national finalists battled it out for the title, with the winner to go on to compete in the international Miss Universe pageant in December. More news... Everything is a blur - Miss Universe... When Miss Universe Australia 2012 Renae Ayris received her tiara at Melbourne's Sofitel on Friday night she had the added thrill of accepting the title from her friend - 2011 Miss Universe Australia Scherri-Lee Biggs. Ms Ayris said it was watching Scherri's experience as Australia's Miss Universe that inspired her to enter the pageant this year. "I've always watched but last year I followed it really closely because Scherri was in it, she's actually a friend of mine," Ms Ayris said. "I was so excited for her to hand me over the crown." Dressed in a navy and silver cocktail dress by Perth designer Ruth Tarvydas, the 21-year-old blonde looked bright and fresh on Saturday despite having not slept a wink the night before. The life-altering announcement still hadn't sunk in when she fronted the media for her first official press call as Miss Universe Australia. "I'm so overwhelmed still, everything is just a blur from last night," Ms Ayris gushed. "I'm going to wake up one morning and say,"Wow I'm Miss Universe Australia'." The Miss Universe competition was the model's first time in a beauty pageant, but she has taken a shot at fame before. She is an avid dancer who auditioned for a role in Baz Luhrmann's Academy Award-winning film Moulin Rouge!. "I got down to the very last cut but I was too young," she said. Being crowned Miss Universe Australia will open up other avenues to Ms Ayris. As part of her duties she will be acting as the charity ambassador for Operation Smile, a children's medical charity dedicated to improving the lives of children in developing countries born with facial deformities. Another official responsibility will be to represent Australia in the international Miss Universe pageant in December. "I'll try my best to do Australia proud," Ms Ayris said. There have been two Miss Universe title-holders from Australia, with Kerry-Ann Wells claiming the title in 1972 and Jennifer Hawkins in 2004. Wrap Up... The Star's tag line is 'There will be stories', and its a sure bet Star will keep living up to that if tonight was any indication. A casino matched with Miss Universe Australia, a media pack with snappers all trying to get the models attention, so you can just imagine.
